Virgin Trains value 1st class tickets

I notice VIRGIN trains have extended the availability of the Value 1st single tickets from Liverpool to London to include the early morning trains from Liverpool and the peak hour return trains from London.

This means you can travel 1st class return for £54 with alll the trimmings.

You have to plan ahead as you need to book 14 days or more in advance of your business trip.

Keep your travel budget holder happy and your staff in the pink.

£54 Liverpool to London return, 1st class! bargain!!!!

I have just picked one of these fares up, i had to ask the operator to read it out twice.i have just paid £54 for Manchester - London, travelling at peak times on a Tuesday. I normally pay £184 standard class. The only difference, i knew of the meeting well in advance and booked specific trains.

I wonder if this is Virgins responding to pressures such as jet2.com?

    Hi MDUK

The Virgin Trains WEB site on the press releases gives the reason why Virgin have restructured their 1st class fares http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/news/default.aspx#news_31

It does mean knowing what trains you are on in advance but most people I know on business or leisure always know what train they are getting, and most business trips are known in advance of the 14 day deadline (also 7 day £72 and 3 day £88 value 1st tickets return as well). How many times do you go on business with less than 3 day advance planning? Even then you save £96 and get better value (£184-£88).

Go to the VIRGIN site and look what you will get in first class for your £54, and don't forget the 1st Class Lounge at Euston details on the VIRGIN Web site. The showers are free and towels provided free of charge, and you do not pay 20p to use the toilets as on the Euston concourse.

My boss was very frustrated to find he had been booked on the same trains as me but in standard class on a open ticket for £175 against my Value 1st single tickets for £27 each.

Use https://www.thetrainline.com to buy your tickets, I have found this to be an excellent service.
