I want to take a radiator out of a room, not getting rid of the pipework though, my question is, there is a trv on the rad, if I shut it off would it open up sometime if the temperature were to drop below freezing?
Or will it just stay off without any problem?
House manager wants to put fridge in kit and rad is in the way, but may want rad back when she finds it is to cold in kitchen without rad.
thanks Smudge.

Removing a radiator and relying on a TRV to keep the valve closed is not a good idea.
Just cap the pipe off.0 -
To cap pipe off would mean draining the whole system.
I remember trv's coming with a cap so that when you take the top off you put cap on which presses down on an operating pin which is inside the valve.0 -

No it wouldn't.I remember trv's coming with a cap so that when you take the top off you put cap on which presses down on an operating pin which is inside the valve.
Decorators cap - if you've still got one you could replace the head with one but personally I'd still prefer to cap off the pipe.
Turn the TRV and lock shield off, drain and remove radiator, cap pipes where they connected to the radiator tails with a blanking cap.0 -
I removed rad and capped off TRV. Job done, thanks all
