Lowell Financial LTD

Hey,
New to these forums and first time posting. Just a little lost and could do with some advice.
Over a year ago my Vodafone contract was up and i didn't want to renew it, so i walked into my local store and requested my contract stopped, i was going to go pay as you go. Everything seemed fine and i left the store reassured my phone contract was over with Vodafone.
Around 4 months later i received a letter from Lowell financial LTD stating my debt to Vodafone was sold to them and demanded i pay £150. Obviously a bit annoyed about the situation i walked into town to my local Vodafone to be then told to call their customer services. Once i called Vodafone i stated that i asked for my phone contract to be completely over and it appears that wasn't so, i then got told to go back into the store and ask why the contract wasn't cut off completely, so i did only then to be told to contact their customer services again... obviously a little frustrated, firstly i no longer owned the phone, i gave it away to a friend sim free and also by no one wanting to own up to whats happened.
I called Vodafone once more and managed to talk to a manager, the manager reassured me that it was nothing to worry about and that i would have to pay a £30 cancellation fee for the line to be cut off, a little cheesed off i paid up and thought nothing more of it. Now this is the interesting part.... i hadn't heard anything from Lowells LMT for around 8 months until now. I've had 3 letters so far demanding i pay the debt owed and one today stating the following....
Dear.....
We have still to agree repayment on your Vodafone account
Assessing your account for legal action
If we dont hear from you, we'll access whether to take legal action to recover this debt.
We believe the best way to understand your current circumstances if for you to tell us directly.
If you dont contact us, we'll rely on information available to us, such as the information on your credit file, to understand your financial situation. This will help us decide whether to take legal action to recover this debt.
We'd prefer to agree an affordable repayment plan for this debt without the need for legal action.
What i'm annoyed about is the lack of responsibility Vodafone firstly had, i feel like i have been lied too. Again sorry for the essay, its late and any advice would be most welcome. Also thier contacting my brother on his mobile? it has nothing to do with him.
Thanks

Hi,
Ok, write to Lowell, tell them you dispute the debt, and to hold further action whilst you deal with vodaphone.
Next, written complaint to vodaphone, tell them what you've told us, send recorded, head your letter "COMPLAINT", or ring if you prefer, make sure they understand you have a complaint.
Vodaphone must deal with this issue as it occurred before Lowell became involved.
If you don't get anywhere there is a mobile ombudsman that deals with mobile comms disputes, there are two of them, so Google which one vodaphone are governed by.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
