Obvious solution is double yellow lines. Would the op be happy with that?0

Is it a "nice" car that they take pride in?0

I'd buy two extra cars, one for outside the front of my house, one for outside the front of theirs.
but that's just me, I do like cars.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
If they have parked only 1ft from the front gate I'm surprised the car doesn't get damaged by bags, coat zips or jean studs as you squeeze your way past to get through the gate.0

I live on a terraced street.
Nearly all the houses on the street have kerbs but outside my house the kerb disappears so that my front gate opens out onto the main road. The road therefore gets wider leaving space for a car to be parked in front of the house. We've parked in front of our house for years with no problems at all but when you do park in front of my house you are basically 30cm away from the front gate that opens out into the main road. This is the only access to the front of the house as the back door opens into an alleyway that is not safe when dark.
Recently a young couple that live down the road have decided they are going to come home from work before me and plonk their car in front of our house. I know that people can park wherever on a terraced street but with there being no pavement in-front of our house it means that if I wanted to take delivery of a large item like a sofa or fridge or want to get a pram or wheelchair into the house then it would be a real struggle to get passed their car into the front gate.
I can see it being a bit hypocritical to say that we've parked our own car there, but in the event of a delivery or emergency then I can get the keys and move my car, I can't move my neighbours...
Is there anything I can do about this?
It would be worth approaching your local council to ask whether they think you need entrance markings outside your gate. I'm sure I have seen them outside pedestrian gates as well. If your gate is only 3ft wide it would only be 'robbing' 3ft of parking space.
would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

I assume since they have seen you parked there must have thought it must be ok, which it is.0

And actually, virtually every time I go out in my car I have stuff to load into the boot, even if it is only empty cool-boxes for putting the shopping in. I don't expect to have had to make a 'pre-booked' appointment with my neighbours for a 'special case' sofa or wheelchair!
If that was me parking outside my own gate, I would be parking so my rear bumper was just short of the gatepost and would hope that the next car along would park 3 foot away to leave me room to open my boot - which is the width of your gate, OP;).

So park in front of their house, maybe they will get !!!!!! off as well and start using their car to "block" the space in front of their house to stop you using it :beer:Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
