Design software/app.

Does anyone know of any design software or an app for interior design?
Next year I intend to have our house re-designed, dormer fitted, rewired and re-plumbed, new boiler, kitchen etc. A new bedroom will be created and I'm looking for software/app to fit beds and wardrobes in a plan rather like we had graph paper years ago.
Hope I have explained it correctly.

No doubt somebody will come up with a free app but....
My favourite is Visio. Originally independent it was so good it was bought out by Microsoft. Simple to learn, use, scale, is based upon shapes ( that are installed, can be downloaded or made yourself) such as lines triangles rectangles circles and more complicated ones.
Very good intuitive ways to draw, size pages and set scales align centres/edges, snap to grid positions and join/ things together (consider drawing a kitchen sink and drainer, fix it all together and then fit it into spaces).
If it was just a kitchen then suppliers (such as a well known one from Sveden ) do online apps for their own bits but lack some flexibility to add your own bits and bobs.0 -
Thank you for your reply. Basically it is to do every room in the house. The bathroom will be moving down one floor, an inner wall moved etc.
With regards the kitchen as you said in your post kitchen suppliers have their own design software. It's just to give me an idea that everything will fit.0 -
Homebyme is nice free bit of software to see rooms in 3D and add furniture. It's good at straight forward rooms but struggles with dormers and sloping roofs.0

I've used Floorplanner to design the interior structures for two houses. You can use the free version if you only have 1 project. I don't know if there are better programs out there but FP works for me. There are some good tutorial videos on Youtube to help you along.0
