Combi randomly turning on and off

Hi
I have an Ideal Vogue and it keeps turning itself on then goes off for a bit and repeats. Its like the wireless controller is not talking to the boiler. Its set to come on and warm the house to 12oC but it was still randomly turning on even when we were above 17oC, then go off for no obvious reason.
Its under warranty from ideal but I am just wondering if there is anything obvious that might be causing this. I have changed the batteries in the thermostat as the ones included were cheapies, but it made no difference.

Hi , I've just had the same problem but with an Alpha.
By the time they came out I couldn't switch it off, with the controller. It turned out to be a faulty receiver in the boiler. They replaced the wireless controller and receiver.
Hope that helps x0 -
Thanks, yes it might be thermostaot or receiver issues, its really winding me up now, and the extra money its going to cost running the boiler all day.
Thermostat is Salus RT500 RF, I have finally managed to change all the time zones to cut out at 11 degrees yet the boiler still keeps coming on and off, even though it reads 20 degrees.
Even in frost protection mode (set to turn on at 5 degrees) its still not working properly.
Now it comes on for 5 mins, goes off, comes on goes off. ***K OFF!0 -
Does it have a PREHEAT feature to maintain the temperature of a (small) tank of hot water in the combi? That would work as what you described if it is turned on.0

Is it at the same time every day? My programmer has a feature called 'pump exercise', which runs the boiler and pump for one minute at mid-day. The idea being to prevent the pump from seizing up if not used over the summer. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Its not a pre heat, that feature is turned off.
Just phoned the company who said it sounds like the thermostat/transmitter. Though I dont know how they can possibly be sure of that over the phone, and how would it be telling the boiler to keep turning on and off? I even took the batteries out for a few hours last night but the problem still went on. Eventually they agreed to book in an engineer but I will have to pay £85 if its not the boiler.
I can just imagine a long battle of two companies saying "its not our part".
Edit, I have now turned off the thermostat receiver (next to the boiler) at the wall. If it keeps happening can those parts be ruled out?0 -
Where is the boiler located?
If it's out in a garage or other unheated area it could have a frost protection pipe thermostat and/or air thermostat fitted to the boiler to start the heating if the temperature drops too low.
They will start the boiler regardless of the temperature inside the house.0 -
I'd have said the pre heat idea if you hadn't ruled it out, does the boiler have an ECO mode? If yes, turn this on, it will normally stop random operation.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Not sure if it has economy mode.
It is on an external wall, but its warmer than it had been last week, and it wasnt doing it then.
Update. I turned off the thermostat receiver on the wall and the problem stopped. Where do I stand with the company that made the wireless controls? (Salus)0 -

You need to try changing the wireless frequency used on the RT500 RF RTFM0
