    This is gonna sound so stupid but i've lost my manual and i'm not sure how to work the sc:confused: . Right do you just add your food to the pot and switch on or do you lift out pot and put water in there :confused: . I thought i was suppose to put water in and set pot on top of it but really can't remember what manual said. HELP PLEASE. I don't wanna blow the thing up:eek: .

    Sorry for the short answer above the phone just rang.:o

    The water goes in the ceramic cooking pot not underneath.:eek:

    Put the pot on the element and turn on to warm the pot, prepare your ingredients, place in the pot and pour in water/stock. Cover and wait.

    Enjoy the lovely smell till its ready to eat. :drool:

    It's a tesco slow cooker, model sc356. I tried to find a manual but had no luck.

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-2168.aspx looks the same as my MR one (the smaller version of mine) water goes just in the pot only!!! Don't get the base wet as that is where the electricals are.
    One day I might be more organised...........:confused:

    Your welcome.

    I found this which is quite interesting.

    Forget the manual just throw it in

    My wife and I were given a Slow Cooker as a gift to aid our hectic lives. As most people do, my wife studied the receipies in the manual and paid particular attention to the pre heating instructions and cooking times. We tried several receipes and the results were very tasty. The only concern was the amount of time it took to prepare things in the morning.

    The general recommendation when using slow cookers is to pre heat the crock pot and any sauces that are made from powder rather than cook in sauces. If chicken is the main ingredient cooking time is recommended to be a lot longer for obvious reasons etc etc.

    My daughter was the salvation of the slow cooker when she pointed out that all she does is chop the veg the night before and throw the meat in the next morning before making the gravy mix with boiling water, pouring it on top and switching the slow cooker on. The final stage is to go to work and wait all day to come home to a ready cooked, full flavoured home cooked meal.

    The moral of this story is to experiment with the view of making life even easier.

    ~~~~~~~~~
    If I use a packet mix as I often do for pheasant I alway mix it into a paste with cold water and top up with hot. It stops it from settling and you getting lumps.
    Remember no matter how tempting it is "you musn't keep lifting the lid". It needs that (sometimes chattering) water seal that forms around the lid to help it cook.
    Say she how has already opened and stired her soup twice already today. :o I did in my defence start mine last night so the first stir was justified.
