Ecube for your fridge

Hi,
apologies if this has been asked before, I did do a search but didn't find anything sooo....
Has anyone bought an Ecube for their fridge? I read about it from the free green ebook someone posted about here. It costs £25 but supposedly saves energy your fridge would use. I just wondered if anyone has actually used one and whether it is worth investing the £25 in? It's a lot of money to me but I might consider it if it is really worth it.
Thanks!
My AA Fridge -Freezer uses 5p of electric a day or £18.25p a year so with the advertised 30% saving the Ecube would take just under 5 years to recupe its cost , if it lasts that long !

I've never heard of the ecube until today so cant comment on it but there is another product on the market which is called the Savaplug and does a similar job. Apparently when you switch on a fridge or freezer full power is needed to pump the refrigerant around the system. Then once the motor is running, full power is no longer needed and the savaplug senses this and reduces the flow of electricity accordingly. The website says it makes energy savings but not how much!

Probably because they don't want you to know. If the savings were worth it they would be making it a big selling point.
I suspect the savings would be so low than it you knew what they were you wouldn't bother to buy the product.0 -
these people seem to manage.

If you have a 40 year old fridge/freezer it might help. Covered here:

Thanks for the link to the previous thread, I thought fridge manufacturers would have come up with a way to resolve the problem the Savaplug claims to fix by now and this confirms it.0
