I've got an all-in-one HP printer which doesn't work. Despite downloading new software etc it does everything apart from actually print.
So I'm after a new printer and as cheap as possible.
Any suggestions please?
Having bought 2 extra large size ink cartridges for it, I'm tempted to buy another HP, but I see on various forums that HP printers not printing is a fairly common problem, so maybe I should try an other brand!
I'm not after anything whizzy or that does clever special stuff.
If anyone can suggest something, I'd be grateful as it's so hard to know where to start and I'm googled out!
Thanks

I did some research about six months ago, Which? magazine etc. and ended up buying a Brother DCP-J4120DW. Works fine for my needs - occasional printing of B/W and even less occasionally Colour, nothing fancy. I'm only half way down the cartridges that were supplied with the machine and as these aren't usually 'normal quantity' ones, that shows how little we use it. I don't print photos - I'd probably have gone for a different machine if I did. Carts seem no more or less expensive than other types. It's nice having the wifi connectivity that these modern machines have now.
I'd recommend poping down to your local library and having a look at the latest Which reviews of printers. At least this will alert you to the ones that waste a lot of toner on just cleaning cycles (some of the Canon ones are very bad in this respect apparently). Otherwise, it's difficult to choose.0 -

I found it quite good when I had problems with my HP printer. On Windows 7 I could print black and white and not have to have a colour cartridge installed but with Windows 10 I have to have both or it wont print at all - the Print and Scan Doctor picked this up. I do find the HP Printer is quite temperamental though.0 -
I've tried Epson, HP, Lexmark and Canon, and I think the Canon MG4250 that we have at the moment is the best of the bunch.0
