    It can be a confusing system. I once tried to go back via singapore with 5 and a half months left on my passport. Didn't know about the 6 month rule and got sent back - lost all my flights and hotel bookings!

    Should there be any legit reason for people to use dual nationality to their favour when travelling?

    By the time you reach the age of 18 you should have made your mind up which passport you want to travel under......problem solved.

    My sister-in-law uses her British passport when entering Britain and her Australian passport when entering Australia.

    She's a bit older than 18.

    My daughter does that as well. Problem is the OP didn't want to pay to keep two passports going!

    In our experience entering Thailand you do not have the choice if you have dual nationality you must enter using your Thai passport if your a Thai citizen, you cannot use your UK passport for example

    Hasnt always been the case but maybe they were just more relaxed in previous years or the IT immigration systems were not as accurate as they are now.

    Appears to be the case for Australia too and I believe the USA.
