Sold my car. Buyer now wants refund or money for repairs

  • Like the others have said, I don't think he'll turn it up - this strikes me as all for show. You're protected under sold as seen.

Besides, from a money point of view, you already knocked off £400, now the new owner wants more? This is nothing but scare tactics. Even if ever did go for caught, it was (again) sold as seen and the car's MOT history should also support it.

The reason this low-life is back for more is that he already got you to reduce the price by £400 for spurious or minor faults. He sensed that you are not good at negotiating, and so he's trying it on again.
The correct answer is, as above, to cease all communication. You won't be seeing him in court, as he'll move on to another victim instead..
