Default new york-midtown or soho/tribeca??

icon1.gifnew york-midtown or soho/tribeca?? hi, trying to book a short break to New York next august for myself and teen.
only ever booked a package to Spain before so a bit over whelmed!
want to be in a safe area, not too far from airport ,but not too far from the heart of things, don't mind a bit of subway/bus though.
any recommendations /handy tips about where to stay?
any things i need to remember to do- already read about the ESTA passport thing.
I'm looking to book online with Virgin.
thanks so much, need as much guidance as possible! :)

Research the New York Thread and ask any Questions there

Main thing is what is your budget ?
