Saving photos on Apple computer

Hello, I have an Apple Macbook Air and an i-pad, also hubby has an android phone. I take photos on a camera, the i-pad and the android phone. I now seem to have these photos saved in so many places, often duplicated several times, and wonder if anyone has a reasonably simple way to save them all onto the apple mac hard drive.
My son has shown me how to open 2 windows side by side on the Mac, "all my files" and "my photos" and how to move photos from "all my files" to "my photos" but they then stay in the "all my files". This makes remembering which photos you have actually moved to the "photos albums" very difficult. I would then have to go and delete the photos one by one in the "all my files" so that they are all in one place.
The android phone is saving the photos to Google cloud because I have a G mail account, and the i pad and mac are saving to Apple cloud.
I would be happy not to have any of them saved in the clouds if I am sure I have them on the Mac and on an external hard drive.
Can any one offer suggestions to one confused person. Please don't use technical terms as I am an oldie and need a fairly easy to understand explanation.
Many thanks if anyone can help.

I don't know about Android to Mac but you could, in the future:
Open the Photos app for macOS. When you've plugged in your SD card from the camera/your iPad there's the option to import the photos then delete them from your SD card/iPad.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Use Photos. Enable iCloud. Job done.0

I have and iPad and MacBookPro and use a Galaxy S7 as my daily phone.
in my experience both Apple and Google cloud options are a PITA.
My advice and what I do is download the dropbox app to your phone/iPad/computer and sync everything from there.0 -
Thanks all for suggestions.
20aday, Im doing that already but they are all saved in the Cloud but in no particular order.
Security Guy, saved in Cloud but in no order.
Mr Singletons suggestion is more what I was looking for. In Dropbox the photos can be saved in folders fairly easily then i cloud can be disabled. I am fed up with it to be honest.
I did find the windows computers much easier for saving photos.
There must be a way to sort all the photos I have in both clouds?0 -

They should be stored by Photos by date, location and event. You are importing them into Photos (the application), yes?0 -
Hm, yes I think so Securityguy. When I click on the photos symbol on my computer some of the photos are in there but by no means all of them. The ones on Google cloud aren't in there.
I feel fairly sure that I have them all backed up on "my passport", which I have just done, but I would like to view them in folders. i.e. my photos, holiday photos, Majorca or Dubai etc. I hope I am explaining what I mean here.
I will be back tomorrow as its late now and my brain is scrambled.
Thanks for the help so far.0 -

.
When you say 'My Photos" do you mean the Photos app?
When you import a photo to Photos it duplicates the photo in it's library. Let's say you have a folder called 'Holiday 2016' on your desktop. If you import those photos, to 'Photos' you will then have two copies. The original location and one in 'Photos'.
You can turn off this behaviour as detailed in this article: http://osxdaily.com/2015/04/21/stop-photos-copying-importing-picture-files-mac-os-x/
If you turn it off, 'Photos' will leave the photo in it's original place but you will see it in 'Photos'.0 -

I would keep using the Cloud to back up. You can never have too many back ups of precious items like photos.
It sounds like you are taking a photo on the phone, it's going up to Google, you then import that photo to your Mac/iPad and the same photo is going up to iCloud. Is that correct?0 -
I have been making new folders and moving the photos from the main (Camera Roll) to albums and can see that this is working but I have no way of knowing which photos from the Camera roll I have already moved. In fact they are now moved are they they are just a copy in the album.
This would work for any recent photos I take but as for all the past years of photos I have taken, it could well take the rest of my life to do this.
My older photos were all stored in named folders on my Acer Aspire camera and I have a copy of them all on a hard drive, but they now seem to be all in alphabetical order on the "all my files" folder on this Mac book. Any suggestions as to how I could see these older folders in that same order on here?
The Dropbox idea is a possibility Mr Singleton as I do have one of these and will have a look at which photos are saved on there as I haven't looked on Dropbox for a long time.
Sorry if all this is waffle, I can't explain any better than this.0 -
Yes, shopbot, that is what is happening.
In the "all my files" on the Mac there are sometimes 3 duplicates photos all with the same numbers which I thought couldn't happen. I have re named some of them to make them more self explanatory but again, how laborious is that.0
