    Who mentioned laptops?

More users still have desktops over laptops. On a campus that probably wont be the case but everywhere else desktops still win over.

Probably not in the near future as tablets become easier to use and more reliable.

Desktop systems will probably be a niche product for power users.

"More users still have desktops over laptops."

    That's simply not true.

Laptops have out-sold desktops for the past six years:

and if memory serves for several years prior to that. Chuck in tablets and laptops plus tablets have outsold desktops 2:1 for at least five years.

The problem is that my monitor is not a touch screen, and im not 120 years old with vision so poor that i need a 2.5" square box to click to open a program.

So why do they push an OS that looks like it should be a touchscreen where 99% of teh devices its on are not touch screens.

Tried using a mouse on your android or apple phone?
Why on earth are you clicking on a 2.5" square box to open a program????

In my experience the desktop icons on Windows 10 are about the same size as they are on Windows 7. You can change the size as well.

If you mean the Live Tiles in the start menu, well you can get rid of all them if you wish to - right click and choose to remove.
