Gutter cleaning and repair

I have been trying to find a company/work person to clean my gutters and reattach part of the gutter at the rear that has come loose.
Still waiting for two quotes but one person sent me a quote for €380 I was so shocked as he did not arrange to meet me at my property he only Google mapped it. I certainly not paying that price but I asked for the quote.in writing and so far nothing but at that price I'd hirer a letter and do it myself.
Now in real terms it's properly too dangerous for me to climb two stores on a ladder but was looking into purchasing a Telescopic Water Red Cutter Cleaning Pole has anyone used these and if so would you let me know which system.
Many thanks
Ama

£100 unless you live in a mansion.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Ha! Ha! I know the pole will not be able to screw in the one missing screw but the main problem is the moss. So for now cleaning the gutter is priority so any assistance would be Much appreciated.

I have not seen your home, but the following scenario may be appropriate. Engage the services of a local handyman. Instruct him one screw is missing and to check all of the guttering - there may be other missing screws and leaks. Some seals may need renewing, downpipes may need some screws. Ask him to also remove all moss and clean the gutter whilst checking it.
Basically you do not want, or need, to engage different people - one person does the job at a reasonable price and you get peace of mind.0 -
Best part of moving to a bungalow, that! I can do it myself now.
If you have an elderly neighbour try asking them. Many can't do it themselves now and pay a man that does. Our neighbours have been a great source of information. Also it isn't all that hard a job: if you've got a neighbour keen on DIY who does their own gutters, ask them if they're prepared to do it for a few notes.
We also subscribe to our local parish newsletter. It's a pamphlet of about 30 pages and they subsidise it with advertising from local traders. It's worth a try if a similar thing exists in your area, produced by any local group.Signature on hold as I've seen no unused witty comments to plaigarise.0 -
Thanks the property is two storey otherwise I would D.M.S but I'll see if any of the people who should be turning up next week to supply me with a quote turn up.
As I've had two that just did not bother despite me contacting them more than once.0 -
I'd agree with Furts - a local "general handyman", if you're lucky enough to have a trusted one locally, will be your best bet.
Failing that - many window cleaners will clean gutters for a reasonable price. I'm not saying they all will, but ours certainly does. He may or may not offer to fix the broken bits - worth asking. But for just cleaning, a lot of them will do it quite easily.0 -
We've just paid £260 for gutters cleaned and new gutters and facias to the back of the house. This is for a 2 bed terrace.0

Thank you to all who suggested asking a handy man and local window clearer. I'll certainly give it a try. Thanks C.C.L sharing info on what service you received and paid for.0
