Hi
Today my daughter got her first phone & I'm in the process of setting it up.
I want to make sure that I set it up to try and keep her safe on line.
I need to log her phone into a Gmail account & I'm debating whether to set it up on my Gmail account or to create a new Gmail account.
I like the idea of using my email account to make it easier to keep track of what she does on the phone but it also means that she can see my email account.
Any advice ?
Thanks
Jen

set it up separate
you can still see whats happening email etc by logging in on your own phone by adding her account0 -
Start up a whole new Gmail account and let her know you are following it so you can help her out if she gets stuck. Don't be suprized though if after a few months she starts up a whole new Gmail account that you can't see...0

Jen, you didn't say what type of phone is involved, I only have experience of iPhones...
The network can restrict adult content, so check that it is set appropriately. Also look to restrict calls to premium rate numbers and texts, such as daily/weekly jokes, sports results etc. They cost a small fortune and some texts are hard to stop.
With the Apple App Store you set a password in order to install any apps. You can share the App Store purchases across more than one device, so something bought generally only needs buying once. Don't share the password with your daughter though and don't keep a method of payment set on the App Store.
There are some device usage apps that can restrict what the user can do, I have no experience of these, so you would need to research these.
Again with Apple devices, you can have a different setting for iCloud storage compared to the (family) App Store. This allows images, contacts, etc. to be kept separate from other devices and allows for more free storage.
Set up "find my device" and set a SIM PIN and a password/PIN for the phone. Register the phone details at https://www.immobilise.com
If your phone is an Android, their version of the App Store may not require a password...0
