Newlyn parking fine
I would appreciate some advice,
2 weeks ago, I received a 'Payment Reminder' of £157 from Newlyn for an unpaid late parking fine. This is the first fine I have received any correspondence at all regarding this particular parking incident (which I do not remember by the way!!). The client they are working for is my local council. Yesterday, I received a 'Notice if Enforcement Agent Visit To Your Premises' for a charge of £392. As I say, I do not remember parking illegally so was naturally quite angry by these letters- however, was going to pay the £157 when I got paid as I could not be bothered with the dispute. However, I am outraged that they have more than doubled this amount in two weeks.
Does anybody know anything about Newlyn? Do they have the right to do this? Is there any way to pay the original charge without all this interest?
Also, am I within my right to ask for evidence that I parked illegally in the first place? Do they always have to prove evidence of this? I never even had any notice on my vehicle regarding this fine.
I just want this sorted with as little hassle as possible- but I refuse to pay this large amount!
Thank you in advance for your help!

You'll be best off having this moved to the parking board.
I don't suppose you know whether the enforcement officers are trying it on or whether they have a court order?0 -
I am not sure- I have literally only had these two letters. I thought that letters may have gone to my old address so went round there today- the man who lives there now had kept every letter of ours since we moved out, and there is nothing else from them.
I just don't understand as there was never a notice on my car, or never a letter from the council- just these debt collectors now. They have my registration number on the letter.
I just want it sorted, but definitely cannot afford the second amount0 -
Newlyn are bailiffs/debt collectors most often associated with legit/council tickets.
You would be well advised to take this over to the pepipoo forum and see what they make of it. Be ready to post detailed but depersonalised scans of the letters.0
