You need to give us a clue.

Maybe your van isn't listed as what you think it is.

check your V5 , because the insurance co are looking at a different model or engine

  • It is listed as it should. If i choose same model without reg plate the price is lower. No accidents on this van. So thats look really strange... But i can't buy insurance without reg plate. When i enter reg plate into DVLA check information looks correct.

The reg has a previous claim under it?

The make/model is a generic search where the reg is an exact one.

A while back i did a quote on 2 seemingly identical Ford KA's. Same year, same engine, same model spec and even the same colour. Yet one cost more to insure than the other.

Maybe one had a mod declared previously or maybe it had an optional extra not noted by the seller or maybe one had been in an accident before?

    So many variables.

  • maybe that model van has an imobiliser and decent alarm from 20?? onward, the quote's assume its a model with these until you put reg in? I'm clutching at straws...

Is it a personal plate? Maybe they assume those owners have more money than sense?
  • I bet there are some factory fitted optional extras that are increasing the premium.
  • Use the vin number to insure it

Are you an existing customer for the company who are quoting?
