Barclays Cashback Card

Has anybody tried to get a Barclays Cashback Credit Card? Is it a good deal or there any bad conditions? I don't see anything about this card on Martin's site. I would appreciate your comments/guidance before I make an application. Thanks, Digger79.

    yeah me too:j

i am thinking about it as it says it has 2% for shopping and petrol, which is a large part of most peoples budget!

    anyone?
  • I applied online two months ago, it was quick to get a result, less than 10 seconds. Credit limit is not much, I only get £800. Not even covers my supermarket and petrol shoppings each month. But I did get paid 2% cash back each month. No need to wait untill a full year. Make sure to set up direct debit to pay off the full balance each month. Anyway, so far so good.

I have one, and shall start using it seriously for supermarket groceries and petrol when the GE Money 3% card disappears :( in November.

Barclaycard seem to be dragging their feet in setting up a DD to pay off the balance in full, so I sent them a reminder today. I assume you are intending to pay yours in full by DD, otherwise you shouldn't be looking at cashback cards.

  • We got one and got the full 2% on the grocery and petrol straight away on the first statement (althought they don't half make the statement look complicated). Looks like other types of shopping will be 0.5% so we might put other stuff on a different cashback card.

That's what I do as I have two other cards that pay 1% cashback on everything.

Incidentally, Barclaycard responded today [i.e. within 12 hours!] to my reminder that they had not set up the DD I requested on application. They apologised ........but - wait for it - ........they are sending me [within 5 days] a hard copy form to fill in

What's the point of online applications? Surely they must have a copy of my application with bank details etc. What a mad world. They had better enclose an SAE!
