Hi-have Yahoo mail on my base unit upstairs. It keeps asking me for '1 time verification' which involves me receiving a text-right pain in the backside!!! Worst case scenario I can install Thunderbird (which works downstairs on other base unit) but is there a quick fix to stop this message & the fannying around with codes by test etc?
Also....tried setting up my main e-mail with Thuderbird downstairs-I've LOADS (thousands) of mails that I need to keep but Thunderbird did not seep to like this & stuck or was very slow. Is there a message/size limit on Thunderbird? Thanks!

Try the following
In yahoo mail, right click the cog (mine is at the top right)
Select 'Account Info'
If asked, re-enter your password
Select 'Account Security' from the left hand menu
if 'Two step verification is on then try turning it offIITYYHTBMAD0 -

I know you've got what you needed now, but just a bit of background - 2 step verification is extremely protective of your account. It uses something you know (password) plus something you have (mobile). If someone steals your phone, they don't have your account. If someone hacks/keylogs/guesses your password, they don't have your account. It's really robust, and it's good to use it if you have the option, it is the future.
There may be a third way than switching it fully on or off - there may be a "remember me on this device" option to use on known good computers (ie home desktop), and some 2FA systems will work with proximity, so if your phone is in the same place as your PC, both will assume you're legit. That's what's coming down the line, but for now if there's a "please don't ask me for 30 days on this computer" option, that's the best of both worlds.
Just a little context for you

A good way to make a local copy of the mails you need to keep is to make an archive using Mailstore HomeDEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »...Also....tried setting up my main e-mail with Thuderbird downstairs-I've LOADS (thousands) of mails that I need to keep but Thunderbird did not seem to like this & stuck or was very slow...

Plug in your main e-mail and password and it'll make local copy of the lot.0 -
Did not know hat existed-will copy all over to it.
Grumpycrab/anyone-is there a limit on the number of mails or GB of data in Thunderbird?:beer:0 -

Remember that, next time you read some story about people getting their email hacked. You've just turned off pretty much the best, if not the only, protection.0 -
No Thunderbird limit. More likely to be a slow ISP or you've run out of space locally. Install Mailstore Home and watch it suck all the mail from your ISP (assuming you have lots of space locally!)DEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »Did not know hat existed-will copy all over to it.

Hmm, may not be compatible with XP. I assume your boot drive is C: - first check you have plenty space and -most importantly- ensure you run with administrator rights. (rught-mouse-click runas administrator)DEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »I run xp, service pack 3...any ideas?
Then try older versions...
