vaillant ecoplus 415 boiler

This boiler has been installed in my mum's now empty house. There doesn't appear to be any sort of manual and I don't have a clue how to set it to a reasonable temperature during the winter. What do the degrees centigrade on the panel equate to? What sort of setting should there be now to avoid bursts etc? At the moment it's set to 38 degrees centigrade but the house is cold. Is this ok? I'm clueless. Any help would be appreciated.

All vaillant manuals are available online.0

Seems like that is the temperature of the water in the system, you need to find the thermostat, turn it up until it clicks into operation and see what happens to the boiler (it should start) IF the controller is set for heating to come on.0

Normally got 2 controls. One with a radiator symbol the other for hot water . Radiator one needs turning up although if it's set up properly it has a frost protection system that turns it on if it gets too coldEx forum ambassador

I've downloaded the manual. It says the temperature in degrees centigrade on the panel is "the current heating flow temperature." The manual doesn't seem to give a maximum figure centigrade, but refers to the position of the knob being either in a left, middle or right setting , according to whether it's spring/ autumn, mild winter or cold winter. What d'you reckon? left, middle or right setting at the moment?0

Vaillants with digital controls allow heating flow temperature up to about 75 degrees.
If the house is empty what are you trying to achieve?0 -
Basically to stop burst pipes and damp0

Have you found the heating controls? Is it set to come on at all? To prevent burst pipes due to freezing there is normally (?) a frost stat installed in the coldest part of the house and a pipe stat fixed to the return pipe of the heating system. Then, when it becomes cold enough (1 - 2 deg), the boiler will turn on and will switch off when the return pipe gets hot enough to operate the pipe stat.
To stop damp, you need to find the heating control timer and the thermostat and set the timer to come on once, twice or three times per day and set the thermostat at a temperature just above the normal ambient for the house without heating.0
