Reasons of unsucceful interview

In last 3 month I have attended 6-8 interviews and all are unsuccessful. Now I am trying to find out what is the real reason: language (I am not a native, but speaking is not bad), high competition in digital marketing(I am applying for digital marketing executive or smth similar with SEO, SEM and web-sites) or saying smth wrong?

And may be it is a lack of experience of working in UK companies, as I am self-employed.

I am really gartefull to see any comments. May be someone had similar problem and then could find what not to say an interview, how to present freelance experience and etc.

You suppouse that someone wish to tell the truth? Just half of them write me that I am good but unfortunately, there are too many candidates... and we regret to infrom you....not to progress you application

Sometimes, want to hear smth more specific then general apologising..
Why HR and managers are afraid to tell the truth? It would be very helpfull.

I'm not familiar with the sector but it would be helpful if you could tell what sort of interviews you get. Are they, for instance competency based?

Do you prepare for the interviews beforehand? Having a good prep. would help. I'm not a native speaker. I do however prepare for the each interview as per the job spec. I have a bit of experience with interviews too, so it helps I must admit. I can guess what they are likely to ask. I'd suggest to download job specs before interviews and try to go through each point by linking them to your own experience. You might not have the exact experience but you probably did something similar in the past.

If it is competency based, do some research online. There is a very specific way of answering such interview questions. You can also do a forum search to find several threads about them. Basically, you don't even have to give long answers or try to be clever. You need to however answer them properly ( look up STAR).

You might be coming across uninterested, unenthusiastic, bored, tired or so on. Impressions are important.

It is not about the truth or lie. Companies simply cannot provide detailed feedback to every single candidate. It is harsh but understandable.

Presenting freelance experience shouldn't be a big challenge. As long as you know what you are doing and how it relates to the job you are interviewing for, you should easily explain it. If you are struggling to explain it, it means you aren't prepared.

Maybe your spelling and grammar is poor and that is one of the skills required in a digital marketing role?

Asajj, thanks for such long post.
Yes, I prepare to the each inteview about couple of days before: make some research about company, peruse job specification and try to predict questions. I had 2 face to face competency based interviews with specific questions where I gave examples using STAR method. Honestly, it was the best interviews in my opinion and I was really sure that get an offer.
You have almost describe my preparation process to the interview)

Sometimes, I think that may be I was talking to much? Trying to say about all my skills may is not good idea to impress.

Yes, it is most popular question about my self-employment.

I frankly say that my current web-project will be closed or they doesn't required every day support and I want to work in company that provides some service or sell goods or smth real.

All my freelance projects are content web-site with articles and some media content, it is not some sort of online-stores.

Fair enough, but I don't chose a job with copyright skills.

How do you prove the truth ?
