Limit transfer

I have a HSBC student card but the limit is only £500 and it can't go any higher. I was looking at getting an aqua reward card. Would I be able to transfer the limit over to aqua? So if aqua give me a limit of £500, I would transfer over HSBC and get £1000?

Thanks :)

Only cards issued by the same lender are potentially eligible for limit transfer.

No - you can't transfer a credit limit like that.

If your application for an aqua card is successful, they'll give you an initial credit limit based on what they think you can afford. (With aqua, I think it's between £250 and £1200.)

If you go on to manage your account well (pay on time etc), you could request a credit limit increase.

Have you asked HSBC if the will increase your limit on the existing card or move you to a different type of card if the credit limit on the student card really can never go above £500?

aqua wouldn't be where i would look.. i'd be looking at Barclaycard or MBNA instead if i was looking to build up some credit history with a provider that is likely to increase/merge limits.

as advised above, you won't get that limit moved across - between providers. and fwiw i haven't found HSBC to increase limits, either when requested or otherwise.
