Smart Commuting
If more flexibility of working hours and locations were on offer we'd all benefit financially & so too would the environment.... good common sense here from the TUC...

I disagree.
Theres a lot of common sense in that report.
Far too many employers are "obsessed" with staff being there 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. No need for this with a lot of jobs.
Compressed working hours and extended flexi time hours need to be more widely available too.0 -

The first permanent job I ever had in the 70s you had a little key to log in & your own 'meter'. As long as you worked the core hours of 10-12, 2-4 & obviously did enough hours over the month they were happy. It was great.

I commute 50 miles each way.
I recently moved to compressed hours - I work long days tues to fri, and have every Monday off. WOrks well for me - I miss the worst of the traffic both ways.
I'm also lucky enough to work from home a day most weeks.0 -

And the office is noticeably quieter too - so its not just school traffic, but people going to work too.
You may think that, but my commute was a nightmare during the school term and as soon as they broke up the traffic vanished. From my experience the attendance in the workplace didnt drop off at the same level.
Especially the October holiday. Maybe its the kids driving themselves to school?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
