More no claims than years driving?

Hey all, I was just renewing my insurance and noticed I have 4 years no claims bonus but have only been driving for 3 years (4 in April)? How is this possible?
I think I maybe moved policy when I bought a new in Dec 2014 but I have no memory of this as surely the best thing would have been to swap cars and not a full new policy. I have no idea what happened there lol! Any help would be appreciated as I can see myself having issues with new insurance.
Many thanks

Sometimes people get an "introductory" NCB when they take out their first insurance policy. This might be 1 year's worth. So having 4 years NCB after 3 years is entirely possible.0

often when taking insurance you pay for 10 months but they give a whole years no claims is this likely ?0

"Years driving" normally date from passing your test, whereas you can earn NCD as a learner.0

It's also possible when you've had a license longer than an actual car (just like when you're a learner, you still have insurance and registered as a driver as a result). In any case, I wouldn't complain0

I was with Privilege for my first year and they gave me two years NCD at the end of it. Useless to get quotes as the computer said no, but when I bought the next year's insurance they were able to tweak it for me and bring the premium down.
Ring your prospective insurer and see whether they can add the extra year on for you. They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
There have been threads where introductory bonuses have not been transferred easily so you maybe locked into that insurer.
A few threads in the past where people have received 2 years bonus after 2 years no claims, but tried insurance elsewhere who said you cannot have 2 years no claims if you only passed last year.
If it happens you just need to shop around until you find one that will allow it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
My wife had four years' no claims by the time she passed her test, as she had bought, owned, insured, MOT'd and taxed three cars in her name as a learner in that period before she actually took a test.0

I'd be more worried about having no memory of taking out insurance less than 2 years ago!0

My daughter ran in to this problem 1 years NCD and had only passed her test 6 months before. Easily sorted with a phone call or in her case stick with same insurer.0
