WorldPay is a credit card processing company which accepts credit card payments from customers and gives it to the supplier. But what we have found is it is running a scam. When a card payment is made by the customer, WorldPay informs the customer that the money has been paid to the Supplier. WorldPay also informs the Supplier that the credit card payment has been processed without any objections. Subsequently when the Supplier checks their bank account, the money hasn't been received. When the Supplier makes contact with WorldPay by phone (they don't provide a contactable email address), their customer service agents advise that the person handling this transaction will call us back. And they never call back! This response from WorldPay goes on and on each time the Supplier makes contact. The customers also confirm that in their bank statements, it appears as if the money has been paid to the Supplier. So WorldPay does not return the customer's funds or gives it to the Supplier. So it appears people working inside WorldPay are misusing these funds and getting away with it because the suppliers are helpless! The worst part about this scam is WorldPay chooses transactions carefully so that detection is minimum. For example, if the supplier has done 10 sales transactions, WorldPay will only misuse 1 or 2 transactions from that batch so that their scam is not detected easily.

I really don't think that one of the world's biggest payment procession organisations is operating scams. You need to calm down and act rationally - if you have a problem with the way your merchant transactions are processed they offer plenty of support options.

  • I only gave up using them because Sage is cheaper. Never found any problems with them in about 10years.

    I also agree it isn't a scam.

I hate this sort of logic! WorldPay is a large website with a huge turnover. They legitimately make money from you by charging in some way for their service (not sure how they operate... Do they take a % of transactions?).

Why would they risk such a lucrative business just to increase profit by stealing from clients? If they get caught then their revenue is shot! That's it, game over!

It is insanely more likely that an error has occurred (on either your end or theirs) than actual stealing!

BUT in fairness to you, I will use three contrasting examples from the gambling world! I think these sites actually used WorldPay as well to be fair

    1. Ultimate Bet Poker - from what I recall, one of their owners used a superuser account to take a large amount of money from poker players (they could see all of their cards).

    2. Full Tilt Poker - I believe they gave player money to their "pro" players so that they could mess around on high stakes games. Pokerstars bought their brand a while back, and they are an example of a large and fairly clean website operating legitimately (though if you play poker you may hear a lot of "pokerstars is rigged" stories!)

    3. Any website which has table games, like roulette. With these games they don't *need* to steal any more money! They just need you to stake your money and turn every £1 into ~95p! The more you stake, the more they make! No need to steal, and operates in line with any legitimate payment process.

So I won't write you off as a crazy cook, because I have seen big companies rob customers, but I don't think it is likely for WorldPay here.

Not particularly fond of it but it is not a scam

Thanks all for your advice. I have instructed our sales team to provide more details about the missing transactions. Hopefully like you say, there is an error somewhere!

But I have to say, just because a company is operating worldwide and is big doesn't mean they won't scam! A simple example is Trump University which ripped off thousands of students!

Sometimes I feel like losing the will to live reading these forums and here's another case!

Op you're talking rubbish, many others have confirmed this as well.

Op unless you have conclusive proof which you obviously don't it best you don't post at all!

Supplier checks their bank and the money has not been received, but do they do faster payments/transfers etc? Or will it show in a few days?

I have bought stuff on my debit card from ASDA on a Sunday and it has taken upto 4 days to show up, is this a scam also?

Are you a new Worldpay customer and are they delaying the payment?
Do you have a time between capture and accepting the order?
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • The op probably has to refer to his computer manual as to how to turn it on but has so far failed to do it correctly hence why there has probably been no reply!

It isn't a scam. Used to be owned by one of the UK's banks, and is completely legit.
Probably true but what a fine example of what an oxymoron is. :rotfl:
