Hp Ink cartridges To refill or Not to refill

Our HP 302 black ink cartridge has run out a lot quicker than expected. A new one costs well over £12 and a compatible one just under £10. We have seen advertisements saying ink cartridges can be refilled. Is this a good practice and if so how much should it cost. Perhaps on the other hand it a practice to be avoided. Any feedback or advise on this subject will be appreciated.

  • I have successfully refilled HP 301 & HP 302 cartridges using inks bought on eBay. It is not difficult and there are instructions/vids online that you can follow. Much cheaper than buying new carts and it only takes a few minutes to do.
  • Not sure about your specific printer but HP did update printer software to reject refills:

It would be worth looking into whether your printer is going to be affected.

Just take it into your local Ink refill store.

If you're using genuine cartridges then you can refill and use without issues. It's the compatibles and generics HP have locked out with their updates.

Alternatively if you're a heavy printer then look into external ink tanks instead, or printer leasing.

    Wasn't that reversed?

I use a HP 2130 printer that has a 302 cartridge which now won't print after I refilled it - I use linux. My other older printer's HP cartridge 301 still works after I refill it. I don't want to reattach the older printer or dual boot using my old XP system just to print something. Any ideas of getting around this ...

    Thanks for any replies.
Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...

  • How much should a shop charge you to refill an HP cartridge about £5!!!. It must be more likely to work if you use the original one with fresh ink rather than chance a compatible cartridge may work.It seems whilst the printers are reasonably cheap and reliable the cost of printing per sheet is higher with HP printers than other manufactures.
