car tax fine

Hi All this is my first post so go easy on me, i recently received a fine for driving on the road without any car tax £468, once i received the letter i wrote back to them explaining that i had not received a reminder or a second reminder, but im not sure you should receive a second one ?.
Also the photo evidence they have was on 22/07/2016 and i received the letter on the 28/10/2016 so i have been driving without road tax for three months unknowingly. i also asked them if this was normal procedure to leave it this long without being notified.
I have just received a letter back of them basically saying the fine stands and it need to be paid by 1/12/2016 but had no explanation about why it took so long to issue the fine.
Do any of you guys out there know of anywhere i can obtain some advice on this matter.
I would just like to add as soon as i received the fine letter i paid the road tax straight away using my log book and secondly i have never missed a payment in my life of any type.

this forum is about parking , not road tax issues, but to answer your question you should try the specialised sections over on pepipoo forums (do not use hotmail for signups , try gmail or similar)0

Reminder for your MOT?
I wonder if the OP has moved address and not updated the address on their V5c.0 -
they DO send out the reminders for the "road tax"
they have NEVER SENT OUT reminders for MOT expiry
anyone with the VRM can check online and see when the various requirements "run out" , with expiry dates0 -
If you use a regular MOT provider, many now issue email/text reminders to inform you of your renewal date. Ask your provider if they do this.anyone with the VRM can check online and see when the various requirements "run out" , with expiry datesPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. This is yet another downside of the Road Tax Disc being done away with. How the government and Dept of Transport could not have foreseen thge increase in untaxed and uninsured vehicles defeats me.
Having a nice disc telling you when the tax expired was so useful.0 -
having ANPR saves paper , in many cases many non VED cars are down to no MOT , as insurance is not a requirement for VEDSave a Rachael
