How can I find out the password on my Windows PC

I have forgotten the password on my PC and the code on the back of my router has completely faded. Does anyone know how I can find out my password? I am on Windows 7 and want to connect my Kindle Fire to my network.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You don't want the password for your 'PC', I don't think - sounds like you want the WiFi password for your router.

The manufacturer or supplier of the router may be able to help. Try the website of one or the other

Connect your PC to the router with an ethernet cable, and log in to its control panel or similar, and you may be able to change the wifi password, but this will depend on make and model
  • login to your router from your pc and find the password....
which router have you got that will help ?

Many routers come with WPS - you press a button on the router and it does a handshake with the device - probably easiest
  • How do I log in to my router from my PC? It is a Belkin router.

Connect PC ethernet port to ethernet port on router, follow Belkin's instructions to get into Control Panel, Admin panel or similar.

You may be able to go straight there from your PC that's already connected via WiFi

Do you have the model number of the router?

EDIT - seems generic to all Belkins

if you don't know how to get into the router the default wifi password is probably on the router somewhere. It's highly unlikely you will have changed it.

Its rubbed off, that's the point !!

To OP, what exactly can you see on the sticker on the back of your router ?
There SHOULD be the wifi password and an ADMIN password (so you can log into the router from your pc)
Can you see either of these ?

The best and easiest option would be as suggested above, use WPS. But there are numerous ways we can help get you in.

Reboot in safe mode with command prompt (probably F8 but not necessarily) and then login with Windows 7 built-in Administrator and reset the password on the locked Administrator account in Control Panel - users accounts. Google it for more in depth instructions.
