How many new bank accounts is too many?

Thanks for all your help and advice - it's much appreciated. I have one final question and then I'm just going to take the plunge and open these new accounts. Is there any benefit to calling up vs opening an account online? I know ultimately it's the same process, but I just wondered if speaking to a fellow human who is fully aware you already have an account may be softer still on the search.
I don't know the answer but if you apply while logged in to your account at BOS (and Lloyds, TSB) the system 'knows' you have an account already. It even displays a message on the application page along the lines of 'opening a second account can help you to budget etc'. I think the BOS application was virtually instant and allocated a sort code and account number there and then which I immediately used to set up the DDs.0 -
I would say 1 is too many! Cash is king!!
But seriously, I would say 2 is too many personally.
Sadly I have about 10 due to overseas needs. Wish I didn't mind.0 -
I think having up to 10 bank accounts is fine. I love to use cash so I can budget carefully. I have a Halifax Reward Account for a £5.00 amount of reward money each month. I also have a TSB Classic Plus Account to get 5% interest. I have a Norwich and Peterborough Light Account. I opened that in 2012 and that account is no longer available for new customers. I would say some banks do that sort of thing. I suggest get up to 10 accounts that suit you.0

I would go for it. Open as many as you can in the shortest space of time. By the time you reach your mortgage application, you will have decent history. Overthinking complicates things.
