As if things couldn't get any lower!

Its a quiet day, so I just took a look at my spam folder and lo, there were several email NTKs from "UKPC" regarding a ninety quid "fine" and yes, using the words "crime" and "misdeed"! Different emails offered a discount of between £22 and £75 but it always bottom lined to ninety quid!

Now I don't think this is actually from the UKPC we all know and love - esp as there are no actual details of car, driver or location. More it looks like a complete work of very amateurish fiction from a foreign scammer. Even genuine PPC scam tickets ain't this bad.

There are some images/banners as well but work blocks them as suspicious, which is good enough reason to resist opening them as they may be trying to harvest details.

How long till someone pitches one of these up here in panic?

:D

  • Have a laugh - forward the emails to UKPC and inform them they're being used as part of a phishing scam!

The Address is Station Sq Coventry and yes, I may have had a look at UKPCs website sometime in the last few months.

There is another link for "payment info" and photos but I'm not encouraged to go further.

It traces back to a Russian ISP, so IMO its a genuine phishing scam, not a fake UKPC ticket.

Unless someone at UKPC is trading data but I doubt I'd feel that sorry for them if it was.

WOW ? real scammers v parking scammers ?

Maybe the UKPC database has been hacked, something the ICO should investigate
