Still not applied as i'm still unsure what to say. I missed this from the original post but if it matters I was employed by the agency rather than the company.

I am not currently an adviser but i do work for DWP and have done for over 25 years, i didn't say that the OP wouldn't get JSA I just suggested that payment may be suspended whilst they look into it, its all dependant on what the employer says in their reply to the Jobcentre. I don't think that telling the OP it will all be ok is a sensible thing to do.

I hated the job, I hated the nature of the work, I hated the commute and the cost of the commute coupled with minimum wage all added up to a pretty unhappy experience to put it mildly.
Those are not reasons that the JSA considers acceptable for giving up a job.

You say that you were late every day and that seems to be the reason why your boss was happy to let you go. Why were you late? If it is because you couldn't juggle childcare with transport, or there was no other method of transport to get you there earlier, they might accept that you had no other choice but to give it up, but otherwise, I would expect that your payments would get suspended at least for a few weeks.

Did I miss the part where "childcare" was mentioned?
This happened to me around three years ago, where I took a job because I was desperate to put some food on the table. Unfortunately, the commute involved a drive to and from the station, three trains (I was told it was two), a weekly outlay of £105 per week on transport/parking and a three hour journey each way.
When the boss got annoyed the first morning when I was late (by 2 hours) because there were trees down across the lines everywhere in Kent and Surrey, I apologised and bit my toungue. Then it happened a couple more times that week, so I asked if I could drive to work, and the boss said that there were no parking spaces for support staff (I thought that was helpful).
To cut a long story short, I lasted three weeks, and we parted company by mutual agreement, after I explained to him that taking into account I was earing less than £4 per hour after travel expenses and spending fourteen hours out of the house every day, I didn't think it was worth it.
By the way, the company in question decided to pay me the equivalent of £2K per year less than was agreed at the interview.
We don't really know the OP's situation, but sometimes, no matter how hard up you are and how hard you work, some jobs are never going to work out.
