ANPR System

Does anyone know how ANPR works as in,
How does the camera transmit the info to the operator.
How do they update system times from the operator to the camera.
What access the operator has in terms of adding/deleting files Adjusting times etc.

This might not answer every one of your questions, but there's enough in there to get you started.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • So each camera on the same sit could have different times, also the operator could delete files as they are individual. They could also temporarily adjust camera times.
Not a good way to secure a claim I would imagine.

The operator also has to meet certain regulations such as having planning permission, and signage that states that ANPR cameras are in use, and for what the data will be used.

The system is so flawed that the UK Government has banned its use by councils and local authorities for car park monitoring.

I drove into work last week and was stopped at the barrier by security thanks to an ANPR mis-read.

When they manually checked my number plate was on their system I was let in. They say they're always having to do that.
  • Thanks. That's useful to know.
