Odd that as Kodi is a perfectly legal media player .

Yes, Kodi is legal and perfectly good. But to install it on a Fire Stick, you have to hack it. At that point, Amazon will void your warranty. Do you want to fight with them over that?

you do NOT have to hack it! , you simply add a non amazon app to the stick , upto recently the kodi app was available from amazon , but they removed it from their store

1: kodi can be removed and a full factoey reset done in a matter of minutes

2: I dout that amazon would have the time to check over every firestick return

    ^^ This.

Also, Amazon are most likely secretly quite pleased that their devices are being used in this way.
They have to have doubled or tripled their sales because of this.

They make peanuts from their devices, the main income with these are from subscriptions.

There is no 'hacking', 'jailbreaking' 'rooting' involved. There are various ways of loading a basic Kodi installation on to a stick but my way involves 'sideloading' using a windows utility called adblink (previously called adbfire). Very easy. https://seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how-to-install-kodi-on-a-firestick/
All sorts of Android apps can be installed the same way to a fire stick. Another good one is Mobdro.

OK, sorry, 'hack' is too strong a word. You have to sideload an app from outside the Amazon app store. I bet if Amazon wanted to be strict (and there's no evidence that they would), then they could reject any warranty work. This would only apply if something went wrong stopping you from doing the factory reset though.

Agreed. Just a very mild warning that you're doing something unofficial.
