    "The Bank of England’s chief economist, Andy Haldane, sparked a nationwide debate when he said property, not pensions, was “almost !certainly” the best bet for retirement."

    <snip>

    Well, it's only one rude expert who dares to tell the truth.
    Just ignore him. :p

    Since economists as a bunch are pretty much, most of the time, wrong, and since he has no more insight into future share and property growth than my garden hedge, and since he's plainly divorced from reality*, and since he said he didn't understand pensions (!!!), making himself self-admittedly useless to advise on them vs anything else, I'll take your advice.

    Haldane owns two homes – one in Surrey and a holiday home on the Kent coast. His basic salary at the Bank is £182,000 and he is in line for a pension of more than £80,000 a year when he retires.
    In an interview with the Sunday Times, Haldane said he did not consider himself wealthy.

    Civil Service pension is the honey pot, and people who know pension know that's the Holy Grail. He is just too polite to say you mugs are paying for my excellent pension.
