Turned down for a phone contract

I have checked the Noddle report, and everything seems OK. I do have a loan, but it is up to date, there are no late payments ..... nothing I can see0

Thank you everyone, I will get all three reports and see what i can do if there is anything which looks odd.0

We were turned down for a 'phone contract in the 1990's, when pay-as-you-go wasn't an option. The reason? Apparently, serving members of the Armed Forces living in married quarters were classed as being of 'no fixed abode'.0

Hi OP,
Which mobile network was it that turned you down ?
EE is the easiest network to get a contract with, usually they don't bother with a full credit check, you just need a debt card and associated bank account.
I was able to get a new contract with EE, whilst still having an IVA on my credit file, and still being on the insolvency register, the IVA had ended, but still showed on my file.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Your being retired should not cause the application to be declined.
It is unusual not to be asked income. Perhaps you failed to answer and they think your income is 0?
If this was a SIM only contract there is probably a very specific reason for the decline, perhaps a problem with being unable to verify your address or identity.
Of course, if it was not a SIM only contract and instead was a high priced contract for the very latest and best phone with high monthly payments, then it may be more to do with affordability.0 -
I know shortly after my IVA Vodafone turned me down online for a SIM only contract, but after ringing them up they put it through anyway. I think at the time the online process used a credit check as strict as they would have for an expensive phone0

I was turned down for a phone a few years back so I got pay as you go and now won't have anything else. No big bills or nasty surprises. Plus if you get a contract deal that includes a handset they are usually such a rip off. Cheaper to buy the handset and just top up. Having said that I would still check your report in case there is something incorrect on it.0
