Combi IDEAL 30 boiler problem
For two days, my combi boiler wont switch on the central heating. This is the first tine ice had any problrm in over 2 years since it was fitted.
When i switch on the central heating (in the winter mode if you are familiar with this boiler) it displays "PUMP OVERRUN" and then "FAN POST PURGE".
I have tried reset several tines, which the c/h does turn on but only for 5 minutes tops before them messages are displayed. I have also turned off via mains for 2-3 hrs too.
Ive checked the pressure which was under 1 and ive adjusted it to 1.4
Google seems to see this issue several times, but with my lack of gas/olumbing jargon, all i can seem to gather us that its normal !!
Can anyone advise? I am currently off work for almost a year now due to illness so money is very tight. And id hate it if i was to call a plumber and pay maybe £50 or so if it only takes him 2 minutes to fix!
my ex husband used to deal with all this stuff, i guess i need to start learning sonetime!
Thanks for reading and any minor help will be appreciated!

When was the boiler last serviced?
If it has been a while, best to get a pro in.
However, www.diynot.com is a good site for fault diagnosis.
Also check the back of the manual for the boiler. It has common fault issues. Only check the simple things, do not start opening it up to try a fix yourself.

Check that the manual above does relate to your boiler.0 -
@cashstrapped
thanks for your detailed reply and links.
i have checked the guides yesterday, and these displayed mesages i am getting class them as "normal messages" only and i cant fond anything related under any troubleshooter/fault finder.
It was installed just over 2 years ago and no, i have not had it serviced. However, i have just looked up the prices for a standard service and its costing around £50 which is the same as a standard call out charge. Therefore, it seems to be wiser to book a service for the same orice as a call out? or what am i missing here?0 -
Check out that forum link I posted and make a post there under the plumbing/central heating section. It usually has a number of pros who are usually quite helpful for specific queries.
The problem with fault finding is that it could be a number of things. So you have to know what to systematically check to find it.0
