A very large can of Indorex, which kills both fleas and dust mites is only £9.99 and is enough for a three bedroomed house, so nowhere near the cost of a month's rent.
  • Thanks everyone for the mean replies - turned here for help and got nothing but nasty snide comments!

Just to let everyone know I got moved out of the house because she broke many agreements on my contract ie - no rent book, flea issue not sorted (had to pay for it myself) and also ignoring any issue I had within the property

RENT WAS ALL PAID IN FULL BEFORE WE LEFT! not that I was going to not pay anyway all I asked was what grounds do I have to leave - not just run into the night and disappear so the woman can't get her money!

And further more, to the people commenting being nasty about the situation, I am a working single mother who needed a bit of help on knowing her right and what not, I didn't need the !!!!!!!s you turned out to be!!

Thanks everyone for the mean replies - turned here for help and got nothing but nasty snide comments! - I've just checked and I don't see that being the case

RENT WAS ALL PAID IN FULL BEFORE WE LEFT! - but do you owe rent for o/s months? not that I was going to not pay anyway all I asked was what grounds do I have to leave - not just run into the night and disappear so the woman can't get her money!

You having no partner, having children and having a job have no influence on your tenancy terms. - why do you believe that would be relevant?

How did you get moved out? You mean you go a council house? A bit confused as to the reference of 'we' in relation to paying the rent if you are single parent.

In any case, sounds like a positive outcome all around, you're out, the LL got their money.

Not sure why you'd think that being behind on rent is acceptable though. If someone owed you £400, would you not be annoyed with them and would you consider mean anyone who told them they were in the wrong for not paying you the money they owed you?
  • we - as in my daughter and I - I alwasys refer to us as we as it is not just me living in them home?

I never said it was acceptable to be behind on rent but if she never came looking for it did she really care?
  • Yes in Northern Ireland if you are not issued a rent book then the contract is void!
No I owe no more money - as I said in my last comment she was paid in full before we left
and further more I was just stipulating my circumstances as needing a little help? Is this not a forum where people can get that or are you just going to nit pick at my every reply Guest101?????

!!!!!!, it would have helped if you had said in your OP that you were in Northern Ireland. The advice given for ending your tenancy was based on tenancies in England and Wales.

To be fair, your title "Leaving a rented property before contract is up with arrears" suggested that your intention was to leave with arrears.

Just because some of the answers were not what you want to hear, doesn't mean that other posters were being nasty. This is an internet forum, as such there is no control over what is posted, so you need to take that into account when looking at the replies- they won't all go your way. To say you "got nothing but nasty snide comments" is not true, some posts were helpful and accurate.

:rotfl:I'm beginning to think the OP lives under a bridge.
