Kate the problem is that it isn't you that was ripped off, it was your uncle.
You really can't do much about it now - but I would get the collection valued again, perhaps at an auction house. You could take your son to the auction if you decide to proceed that route.
If it's worth £600 then make sure you are positive about the inheritance to your boy rather than bitter when you discuss with him.0 -
Further thoughts.
Your uncle was happy with what he bought, if he hadn't been he would have stopped buying.
"Investment for the future", your uncle's phrase not LM's. The "future" is not necessarily the day after today, it can be in 10, 25 or 50 years time.
You have no proof or evidence of any conversation between your uncle and LM. Anything your uncle claimed LM said is hearsay.

Although I do not approve of organisations such as LM and think their business method is dubious, I don't think anything they have done is actionable and even if you could bring an action I think you would struggle. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Somewhat amused by your comment.
If a subject access request was made, it would entitle you to see information they hold on you and only you - if it entitled you to see information held on other people it would contradict with one of the primary purposes of the data protection act - safeguarding of information to prevent its disclosure to third parties. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
