Tivo box keeps choosing what to record

Anyone know how to stop this? while watching TV our Virgin Media Tivo box pops up a message asking is it ok to switch channel to start recording some !!!!!.

I wouldn't mind if it decided to record the type of stuff that we watch, I suspect that somewhere a payment is made to help decide which programs get recorded - why else would it try and record something we have never ever watched such as reality TV tripe. Can we stop it doing this somehow?

If not then consider this a vent, I feel better already.
