Hi,
I'm looking to change door locks for two front UPVC doors and have no idea which one is secure. The locksmith is happy to fit it at a charge of £40/lock. Could anyone suggest any secure locks please and is this quote for the lock change fair. Please advice.

TIA

  • If you mean the eurocylinder then look at the Brisant Ultion or Avocet ABS. Both diamond rated cylinders. The person who fitted mine in our French doors recommended the Brisant over the Avocet as he preferred not having a magnetic key. Both locks designed by the same person apparently!

You won't go wrong with either and to be honest if you can find a locksmith to supply one it's a fairly easy DIY job.

Indeed - If the OP can wield a screwdriver, just one screw holds a euro cylinder in place. Sometimes the handle faceplate needs to be removed to give room to wriggle the lock out and it can be mildly fiddly to get the mechanism to line up.

Second the abs locks, quite good. Have a look on YouTube foe videos, plenty showing how you can change lock within 5 mins and save yourself £40.

You don't need a locksmith to replace euro locks.

Try removing and replacing one of your current locks to see how easy it is.

"£40/lock". Is this £40 per lock, fitting only?

I put the Brisant Ultion in a big project this year, recommended by a good friend as one of the best on the market.

The client had every lock key-alike. One key for a lot of doors!

Another vote for Ultion from me. As well as being secure, the cutting process is based on a serial number not on the condition of the key so you avoid prematurely damaging the lock by using copies of copies.

I would appreciate if someone could help me find a replacement door handle too. I have looked at several websites and measured the door handle but struggling to find the right size.
The measurements of my current UPVC door handle is:
Handle to centre of lock : 95mm
    Distance between screws: 195mm
    Whole plate length:210mm
Can anyone recommend secure door handle please for this measurements.
    TIA

If the door handle is fo the door.you have put a new.lock on
You should have changed the handle.first as.they may be a difference.in the thickness of the handles.
So the new.lock may not be flush with the handle.casing
    Another vote for ultion also.
