ES parking enforcement!

Hello,
This is the first time I've used a forum. I've read the newbie stuff at the top but struggling to still get an answer.
I parked on what looked like some waste ground in southport. There was no machine to pay for a ticket. I received a parking charge notice in the post with a picture of my car (not showing number plate) telling me they were inviting me to pay £100. And that they got my details from the DvLA. I was told to ignore it so I did then got a second letter and ignored this too. I have just received a letter from Gladstones solicitors. Entitled "letter before claim".
Please please can anyone advise me of what to do? Do I pay it? I thought unless it was a penalty charge notice from police or council I didn't have to pay?
HELP!!!
Thanks

Well now you know you were wrong. Your only real hope of winning in court is the signage and whether or not it complies with the BPA/IPC/POFA requirements.
Read a few more threads and see if you can get some pictures of the signs. Google Earth might help too.0 -
If I can get evidence of signage (if there wasn't any), can I appeal. Is it not the case anymore that you don't have to pay parking fines just penalty notices?
