When you signed for the rental, you agreed to their terms and conditions. Their terms and conditions state you can't cancel. You told them/asked to cancel and didn't pay the cost of the rental.
Looks fairly open and shut to me, but I'm not a judge.
I never signed for the rental. They were not there so I could not sign for it to get the rental. I wanted the rental but as no one was there and they were driving the van they wanted to rent to me.0 -

You're new around here, so you'll be unfamiliar with the number of posters who - when reality differs from their preferred outcome - throw their toys out of the pram and storm off, deleting the posts on the way.

Many users (not necessarily you) have a habit of going back to correct posts when inconsistencies appear in their story. It happens quite a lot actually, where people (again, not necessarily you) come here looking for help with some outrageous behavior from a 3rd party, that later turns out to be perfectly reasonable.
Presumably the contract was made at the time you booked and gave them your credit card details.
It'll all hinge around how unreasonable a judge feels they acted regarding delivering the vehicle. If they were only 20 minutes late for the pick up, then it's a totally different matter to them being 4 hours late. It'd also make a difference if you were hiring it for an hour Vs hiring it for a week; being 4 hours late for a 1 hour slot presumably means you can't do whatever you needed the van for, but being 4 hours late for a week long hire probably isn't as big a deal.
When did you book it for, and for how long?0 -

Reminder to all on here and especially AdrianC who thinks he is being a clever s0d - this is the original question I asked. Simply if there is a UK law which protects consumers from hire vehicles not being available when pre-booked.
I was not asking for your advice on whether I would win or loose the case. Your are not solicitors. You are not legally trained and you still don't know the full story.0 -

Your original question has been answered. It was answered in the first few replies, before the additional information came out that changed the context the question was being asked in. That context is, it seems, still changing.0 -

Yes and the reason I don't post here more is people like you who rather than being nice and helpful are snarky and rude and not answering the original questions I asked. Infact it may well have been you who came back with a similar attitude to some other threads I posted here. Once again I regret posting here for advice for trolls like you to get off on. You quoting my posts just embarrasses yourself more. Carry on!0 -

So if we don't know the full story, do you expect to get the correct advice?
Either tell us the full story or take no further participation.
And for the record, The Consumer Rights Act 2015. As long as it wasn't business use you wanted the van for.0
