Apartment does not exist

I arrived at an apartment in London to find out it did not exist and I had been scammed. I contacted the company we booked through (agoda) and they did eventually after 6 hours of waiting find us another apartment but it was 20 minutes away further away and we had wasted a day of our holiday waiting on them to get back to us.

Am I able to claim some kind of compensation with this?

From the first page of a google search on Agoda

"Agoda Company Pte Ltd is an Online Travel Agency based in Singapore that offers accommodation booking services through its website and mobile app."

Why did you book it through someone based in Singapore? Were you travelling from there?
  • They were cheaper than other companies. I had no idea they were from Singapore until I had to phone them when I was on holiday :(
