Which trade?

Hi all, I did ask this on ratedpeople but the post keeps getting deletd and I'm not entirely sure why when I'm just trying to find out which tradesperson I need to target for the work?! :rotfl:

We currently have a serving hatch that faces onto our main living room wall and kitchen wall. We were looking to get this removed and filled in to then repaint? Dimensions are approx 80cm wide, 70cm high and approx 15cm in depth? Who would we require to complete this task and what would a rough cost be for this?

A plasterer, really, as long as they can competently add in some stud work, which they should be able to do.

Probably a day's work plus materials if blending in rather than replastering the entire walls.

You would need a joiner, plasterer and painter. A jack of all trades or master of none :(

  • Thanks everyone - we'd be able to deal with the decorating/painting so I guess it seems as though we're looking for a top-notch plasterer really....

If it's a block wall then a builder should be more than competent to do what is quite a simple DIY task. Both sides of the wall will probably need redecorating as new paint will never be the same colour as the original ( unless very recently painted )

This isn't relevant to finding a contractor, but could you leave an 'indent' (wrong word) in the wall on the living room side, as a nice place to put pictures/vase or a TV? :D
