Hello all. A friend is wanting to buy a desktop pc or all in one for her Son for school work and general Internet browsing, watching YouTube etc.
She has a budget of £300 and would like a monitor in with that if possible.
Can any of you knowledgeable folk point me in the direction of the best value for her money?
Many thanks in advance.

DO NOT buy an all in one they are not upgradable and it generally all goes to landfill if something breaks. Get something with a separate box and monitor. To cut the bill is there a spare TV with HDMI/VGA or DVI inputs available to use as a display ?Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

There's a spare TV but as it's a present I think the intention was to have all new, but by all means suggest a tower only. I haven't really got a clue about it so said I'd ask here.
Thanks for your responses.0 -
Something like these

This allow you to have £100 for screen & speaker.
Keep an eye on black friday deals, there may be some monitor on sales.
I generally do not recommend anything with AMD E series/ intel 1037U/ j1900/ N3050/ N3700 as most of them with CPU solder to motherboard which not allow to make any upgrade.0 -
Well... For that budget she could get herself minipc's like:
NUC NUC5i5RYK
HP Pavilion Mini
Acer Revo One RL85
Zotac Zbox CI521 Nano
DELL Inspiron 3050 Micro Desktop
ASUS Chromebox
MSI Cubi
and put the rest towards a monitor.
Alternatively she could get herself a Chromebook laptop for less i.e.
ACER Chromebook R11
TOSHIBA Chromebook 2
ACER Aspire One Cloudbook 140 -

Mummy, why do my games run so badly or this software doesn't work in Chrome OS.

If the actual user and not the OP (read who it is for) is saddled with a chromebook then that's just about all they will do. They are probably unaware of the severe limitations imposed by said device.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0
