Student finance / Nhs bursary help!

Hey guys!
I was wondering if you could give me and my partner some advice about her student fees.
Having failed some aspects of her 2nd year Mental health nursing course, the university is allowing her to redo 2 of the semesters in which she failed the exams (Due to major family disruption). Upon agreeing the terms of her going back next month (16th December) the University has quoted her £2507 to pay for those semesters.
Having contacted NHS bursary, which cover her course fees, they have refused to pay anything; including her monthly bursary, as they class it as a 'resit' year.
We then contacted student finance after being told to by the Uni, Student Finance England have now said they will not fund anything at all because they don't cover that course. This means that with her 6 1/2 hour a week wage, she's coming home with £200 a month which is near enough impossible for us both to pay rent, bills and live...
Does any one have any more suggestions or Ideas of anything we could do? Everything would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys!

She would have been better to drop out part way and defer it till the next year as she would likely have received some course costs back. Going all through the semester then failing means that money has now been fully spent.
I can understand why the NHS won't fund a resit year though as they will have limited funds and it could add up to a lot extra paid out for people who fail and resit.
I dropped out of an OU module part way through so got a partial refund to my student loan.
Could she defer it till next year and work to save up to pay for the resit year?0
