Taylor Wimpey & Mortages 1st

Hi Folks,

First time user here - Be gentle with me (Please!)

Looking to buy a house - 1st time buyers. Have a mortgage advisor sorted (Someone I know), and I've found the mortgage we'd like to go with.

Speaking to Taylor Wimpey - They still want me to go through Mortages 1st.. I don't seem to be able to do anything with TW without going through them 1st!

Spoke to Mortages 1st and they just want to run some checks on me (around 20 minutes) and they are fine that I've already got a mortgage advisor. But I'm confused why TW are insisting on this. I've seen that Mortages 1st may charge on paperwork somewhere...

Essentially - Anyone come across this before and can shed any light? :)

    TW are getting a kickback.

Tell them where to go. I would anyway.

Tell TW that if they want to sell their property to you, you are happy to buy it - but that your sources of funding are none of their business.

I'm buying with TW and said no to this.

They can't insist you use their people (or tell them anything). In fact it's in your own best interests not to use their people.

  • We bought with Charles Church who also use Mortgages First. As we were already planning on porting our existing fixed rate mortgage and had an AIP they agreed there was no point using them.
