Investment in "Investment Opportunities

I have been looking at an advert by an organisation calling itself "investment opportunities".
As a new user I am not allowed to post links so please Put the following into your search engine
fixed-income.investmentopportunities.co.uk
Now I have always been told that if something looks too good to be true, it usually is too good to be true, so I won't be investing but I would still like to know the view of others about this. Is it genuine?

It is an unregulated 100% loss potential risk based investment with no FSCS protection.
Generally, the higher the yield, the higher the risk. Some of these can be genuine but there are also failures starting to occur.
The company promoting this one was only incorporated in Sept 2015 and has yet to file any accounts at companies house. The director of this company also promotes airport parking. It is not regulated by the FCA.
There is no address for the company other than the address of their accountant. The director is British but resident in Spain.
i am sure most sensible people are thinking exactly the same as me with that info.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Only a moron will invest in something like this so there will no doubt be a lot of people complaining here in two years time they lost all their money0 -

You have reminded me of what happened when my wife and I holidayed in Malta. There was a 'free day trip' offered from our hotel to a certain 'Golden sands development' . I immediately knew that it was a sort of a timeshare 'find a mug' operation. But I was extremely curious about the place and what their 'spiel' was. Surprisingly my wife didn't cotton on, until I said to her 'you know this is a timeshare thing right?' Anyway to cut a long story short we had a laugh at what they were charging, and went back to the hotel. I then bumped into some fellow guests that we had previously befriended, who also went on that day trip. I said to them, what a joke that was, who the hell would have invested in that? But she replied, 'We bought a one bed flat timeshare (they didn't actually call it timeshare, but it was).Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I remember as child being taken to one of these presentations by my dad. The company had offered £100 to anyone attending the sales pitch I guess with their expectation they'd have captive audience and get their sales up. He had no intention of buying and when asked what his ideal holiday was replied "caravan in Cornwall" which kind of wrecked their timeshare pitch. Eventually they just decided to give him the £100 to get him out the way so they could carry on selling to the suckers.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Today
The FTSE 100 yields about 4%
Expected long term stock market returns are about 6%
This "opportunity" is much higher than either the above and they are risk investments.
A wise old friend once gave me this advice and I alway go by it:-
" If something looks to good to be true, let someone else take the risk"
He also said:-
" If something looks to good to be true, let someone else have it"0 -
I had a wine dealer call me to come around to let me try his wine.
I said yes but emphasised I wasn't buying any, I told him quite a few times.
Anyway, he turned up, lovely summer afternoon, and we tried all his wines.
When I said no sale he got really upset! Odd innit! fj0 -

It isn't just the good (comparative) yield of the dividends that attracts me, it is also the preferential tax treatment over savings/bond interest and rental income:
First £5k is tax free
In the 20% band you only pay 7.5%
In the 40% band you only pay 32.5%
In the 45% band you only pay 37.5% (I'm not in this tax band)
Much easier to mitigate CGT than it is with property
You can wrap them with a SIPP or ISA (not so with residential property)Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

:rotfl: So I take it then that you consider a lot of the posters on this forum to be morons?
Sounds like you are a fan of H.L. Mencken:
"No one in this world, so far as I know — and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me — has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people"0 -
I don't like to see the victims of scams derided because some of them are nice trusting people. Deriding the victims also helps the scammers because it prevents victims coming forward.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0
