Lowell debt hounds chasing wrong man...

Depending on the judgement date of the CCJ you can get it removed if you pay it in full.
You can argue till you turn blue if they chased the wrong guy (by using a shortened form of your name), ultimately I doubt the credit agency or the court will have an issue with what they did and they sent all the required letters to the correct address.
You have a very specific time from the judgement to pay it before it which is one month. If you pay within that time and obtain a certificate of Satisfaction from the court the credit reference agencies will be able to remove it from your file.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! The date of Judgment is well over a month. I have resigned myself to being guilty before being proven innocent...
I'm going try diplomacy mixed with facts (documented), and sprinkle some promise to pay on top, see how that goes down.
I have prepared a letter with the above ingredients if anyone would be willing to read and advise on it let me know, I've ranted enough for now. Jon(athan) OUT.0 -
It is your debt. As to 'wrong name', Jon is an abbreviation of Jonathan, I don't really think that's adequate. No-one calls you Jon, then? My partner did create some confusion by registering for some things with the abbreviated form of his name. I would have been put out if the companies hadn't recognised that 'abbreviated name' and 'full name' was one and the same person. If they can recognise he's the same person, I find it a bit unbelievable that you didn't look at those letters and think 'hmmm, here is my abbreviated name, better check'. It might be unfair of me but I think you were hoping that a technicality would relieve you of the hassle, and the gamble hasn't paid off.
You might dispute the reason for the debt, but unfortunately you didn't take action within the timescale required, so now you have a debt. It's annoying but I don't think arguing over minutiae or posturing about greeting people at the door with big dogs is going to help the reality of the situation. Sometimes life is unfortunate. When was the judgement granted? If it was 5 years ago then you've only got another year before it drops off your file...0 -
I thought once a CCJ is issued, it's another 6 years from that date hohum?0
